Terms of use

This page sets out the basic rules for using roadtaxrates.co.uk, who runs the site, and what the figures here can and can't be relied on for. It's written in plain English. If anything's unclear, email [email protected].

What this site is

Roadtaxrates.co.uk is a free reference for UK Vehicle Excise Duty. It compiles tax rates, thresholds and rules from gov.uk and other official sources and presents them in a searchable, sortable format. It's an information service. It does not sell anything, take payments, run accounts, or process any personal data about visitors.

No warranty on accuracy

Every rate, threshold and figure on this site is checked against the relevant gov.uk page or HMRC publication before it goes live. Even so, no warranty is given that any specific figure is current, accurate, or applicable to your circumstances. Tax rates change with the Budget. New rules can take effect between updates here. Specific cases can turn on details that this site doesn't capture.

If you're working out what road tax to pay on a specific vehicle, gov.uk is the authoritative source. The figures DVLA shows when you tax a vehicle are the figures that apply. Do not make budgeting, purchase or legally significant decisions on the basis of figures shown here alone. To the extent permitted by law, Supra Digital Limited accepts no liability for any loss arising from reliance on the information on this site.

Who runs this site

Roadtaxrates.co.uk is operated by:

These details are published in compliance with the Electronic Commerce (EC Directive) Regulations 2002 and the Companies (Trading Disclosures) Regulations 2008.

The prose, structure, design and code of this site are copyright © 2026 Supra Digital Limited, all rights reserved. The underlying tax rate data is sourced from gov.uk and HMRC and sits in the public domain. The compilation, presentation and editorial framing of that data on this site does not.

You're welcome to link to any page here. You may quote short passages with attribution. You may copy a specific rate for personal reference. What you may not do without permission: republish the underlying dataset, scrape the site at scale, mirror or rehost content elsewhere, or use any part of it in a commercial product. If you want to do something not listed here, email [email protected] and ask.

Reporting errors

If you spot a rate, figure or claim on this site that you believe to be wrong, please email [email protected]. Include the page URL and a brief description of what you think is incorrect, ideally with a gov.uk link to the source you're checking against.

Every report is read. Corrections to confirmed errors typically go live within hours. You may not always get an individual reply, particularly during a busy Budget update window, but every email is reviewed.

What this site collects, and what it doesn't

Roadtaxrates.co.uk uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count anonymous page views and traffic trends. The analytics is privacy-preserving by design: it sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device, does not fingerprint your browser, does not record IP addresses beyond what is needed for short-term aggregation, and does not identify individual visitors. Cloudflare is also the site's hosting provider, so no data passes to a separate third party as a result of analytics being enabled.

The site otherwise uses no advertising, no remarketing or retargeting, no third-party tracking pixels, no newsletter or account system, no login, no comment sections, no upload mechanisms, and no forms. We see anonymous traffic counts at the page level. We do not see individual visitors, what they search for, or where they go next.

Cloudflare may, separately, set short-lived security cookies (such as __cf_bm) on visitor browsers to detect bot traffic. These cookies contain no personal data, are not used for analytics or advertising, and are exempt from the consent requirement under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 because they are strictly necessary to keep the service online. Cloudflare Web Analytics itself stores no information on visitor devices, so PECR consent does not apply to it either. There is no cookie banner on this site because there is nothing requiring consent.
